In Fall of 2013, Forest County Potawatomi Community, a federally recognized tribe with its reservation in Forest County, Wisconsin, and with trust lands in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, recently completed construction of a Digester Tanks$20 million waste-to-energy facility designed to convert food waste from local food and beverage companies into electricity. Natural Systems Utilities (NSU) is responsible for operating and managing the facility for ten years. The FCPC renewable energy facility has the capacity to generate two megawatts of renewable electricity daily, enough to power approximately 1,500 homes.

NSU, its wholly-owned subsidiary, Applied Water Management (AWM), and MWC (Nasdaq:MSEX) formed a partnership to design, construct and operate the facility under an initial 15-year contract with Monmouth County.

Hillsborough, NJ (October 18, 2013) – Representatives of the Village of Ridgewood, NJ, Natural Systems Utilities, Middlesex Water Company, and American Refining and Biochemical today celebrated a Grand Opening of the public-private partnership’s renewable energy project at the Village’s water pollution control plant. The project has been designed to power the plant by renewable energy, significantly reducing the demand on the electric grid benefiting the Village and its neighbor community, the Borough of Glen Rock. This landmark achievement results in utility cost savings and lowers the Village’s carbon footprint.

MILWAUKEE (August 2, 2013) — Natural Systems Utilities (NSU) has been selected to operate and manage the Forest County Potawatomi Community’s (FCPC) waste-to-energy facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The $18.5 million FCPC project will create two megawatts of renewable electricity daily, enough to power approximately 1,500 homes, by converting food waste from local food and beverage companies to electricity.

Over the years, NSU has provided several planning and design services to Johanna Foods. In 2004, NSU was first retained to provide engineering services to address their pH concerns with the existing 200,000 gallon per day lagoon based biological treatment plant facility.
NSU designed, built and operates the water and wastewater reuse systems for Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots Football Team, and the surrounding economic redevelopment area called Patriot Place.

PRESS RELEASE (Hillsborough, NJ — November 13, 2012) Middlesex Water Company and Natural Systems Utilities reported their unique public private partnership with the Village of Ridgewood, N.J. — named Ridgewood Green LLC –has earned an Environmental Achievement Award from PlanSmart NJ.
In December 2011, Natural Systems Utilities, Middlesex Water Company, and American Refining and Biochemical partnered with the Village of Ridgewood to design, build, operate, and finance upgrades to the water pollution control plant to optimize the anaerobic digestion process and install a new biogas fueled engine generator to convert methane gas to electricity.
Battery Park City is a redevelopment area of 92 acres under the control of the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) of New York City. BPCA adopted a mission of sustainable urban development for the redevelopment of this land, including water reuse objectives more advanced than the LEED requirements.
NSU provided design services for Maiporé, proposing aMaipore combination of natural treatment technologies to provide low-energy and low-cost wastewater and stormwater management for this 18,000 unit social housing development that is currently under development near Bogota.

The St. Croix Indians of Wisconsin were faced with failing on-site wastewater systems and a wastewater infrastructure that was under-designed to handle peak flows. In 2005, construction began on a new wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal system to replace the failing systems.

March 23, 2012 – Chisago City based Natural Systems Utilities, MN (NSU) received 22 wastewater operation awards from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) at the 2011 Wastewater Operations Conference. The twenty-two facilities managed by NSU (formerly known as EcoCheck) earned certificates of commendation at the annual MPCA awards program on March 23, 2011.

The former Casper, Wyoming refinery was one of the oldest refineries in the West. It operated from 1908 until 1991. As a result of common management practices during the 80 years of operation, much of the site is underlain with residual hydrocarbons. It has been estimated that 30 million gallons of hydrocarbons (oil) had leaked into the shallow alluvial aquifer adjacent to the North Platte River.
